This Privacy Policy explains how Menotu: Story Haven (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the app. By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
The app is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases, including an auto-renewable subscription. Your use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard End User License Agreement, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.
Your novels, chapters, characters, plots, world notes, favourites and any images you add are stored only on your device, in a local database. We do not have a user account system, we do not upload this content to our servers, and we cannot read it. If you delete the app, this content is deleted with it, so we recommend keeping your own backups of anything important.
If you choose to add a character avatar or a book cover, the app asks for permission to access your photo library. The image you select is copied into the app's local storage on your device only. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. You can revoke this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
The app shows advertising to users who are not subscribed. Ads are served by Google AdMob. Before the app accesses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), iOS asks for your permission through the App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the app continues to work normally and you will see non-personalised ads instead. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Your novels, characters and notes are never used for advertising and are never shared with advertising partners.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example which screens are opened and whether a purchase flow completed. These events do not contain the text you write. When the app checks for an over-the-air content update, our update service receives your app version and device platform in order to return the correct update.
Diagnostic data may include information such as device model, operating system version, app configuration, the time and date of use, and the IP address associated with the request.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details. The app records only whether an entitlement is active, and that record is kept locally on your device. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your App Store account settings.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
When you browse or search for titles, the app requests that information from The Movie Database (TMDB). Your search terms and the selected app language are sent to TMDB in order to return results. Titles, posters and artwork remain the property of their respective owners; the app is not affiliated with any film studio, television network or streaming service, and does not stream, host or provide access to full movies or TV shows.

Content you create stays on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Analytics data is retained by Google according to their retention settings. To ask a question about your data, or to request deletion of anything we may hold, email us at the address below.
We value your trust and use commercially acceptable means to protect information handled by the app. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The app and this site may link to services we do not operate. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies or practices of those third-party sites.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take the necessary action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are published on this page together with a new effective date, so please review it periodically.
